Senior Commercial Underwriter - Northamptonshire
Salary £30,000 - £35,000


Our Client is an Insurance Company with offices throughout the UK. This is an opportunity to join as a Senior Commercial Underwriter in a fast paced and developing area of the business based in Northamptonshire. The department provides a facility for their customers and places commercial insurance risks that are not underwritten by themselves in the external insurance market.


As the most senior Regional technical referral point for all technical work within the department, the successful candidate will provide training and coaching for team members and have responsibility for managing the most complex cases coming into the centre.

Key Accountabilities:-

• Be the final referral and escalation point for staff within the department
• Liaise with Head Office Underwriting: external providers and Group Relationships Manager on complex cases as appropriate.
• Facilitate and implement technical training using technical input from suppliers, coaching and mentoring of staff.
• Provide technical input and sign-off for referred complaints.
• Co-ordinate quality audits and influence quality control standards.
• Maintain and develop positive working relationships and provide technical support and assistance to external providers, Team Leaders and Operations colleagues.

Personal Specification:-

• Experience of handling complex commercial insurance cases according to technical policy.
• Ability to demonstrate and apply a high level of technical knowledge including knowledge of external insurance market and broker procedures.
• Experience of developing and maintaining key working relationships.
• Well developed interpersonal skills with the ability to train, coach and develop staff.
• Proven negotiation and decision making skills.
• A minimum of 5 GCSE's at Grade C or above including English Language and Mathematics. ACII qualified in accordance with the Qualifications Policy
